According to the latest report of global interactive displays (The Quarterly Market Track of Interactive Displays which covers interactive flat panels (IFPDs) and interactive whiteboards in both the corporate and education sectors) from the specialist Research & Knowledge-based Consulting Company Futuresource Consulting, 300,000 interactive displays were shipped in total in the first Quarter of 2015, with a YOY( Year Over Year) growth of 42 percent. Asia continued to register a high grow rate, with a YOY increase of 31 percent. China witnessed a continuous ascent, accounting for over 50 percent of all world sales while the US suffered a decrease again on the contrary.
In spite of their higher rates than most interactive whiteboards, interactive flat panels are gradually moving into the educational sector at a penetration rate of 20 percent in the classroom. According to the senior market analyst Colin Messenger at Futuresource Consulting, the growth can be attributed to several factors, such as the large-scale FATİH Project launched by Turkey, purchases made by the Chinese Education Department, etc., which seeks to integrate the cutting-edge computer technology into the public education system. Moreover, the corporate sector is a potential market for the interactive flat panels owing to the increasing interest in interactivity within the meeting rooms and the introduction of “Microsoft Surface Hub”, which is forecasted to reach the same size as the education sector in 2018.
According to the report, interactive flat panels account for 50 percent of the sales for 12 of the 67 countries which Futuresource tracks every quarter. In the UK, interactive flat panels are gradually taking the market share away from the interactive whiteboards, taking up 80 percent of the sales. Interactive flat panels now account for 50 percent of the market, whose Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) is expected to go up by 20 percent by 2019.
